- Dorm Traditions
At Notre Dame, your annual events define your dorm across campus. Pasquerilla East realizes this and has learned throughout the years how to make an event not only awesome, but also incredibly memorable. These traditions are more than just about having fun - they are fantastic ways to show PE pride and bond with your fellow Pyros. Here are the events that make Pyros just go crazzzzy!
Silent Night, Silent Auction
The Silent Night, Silent Auction (SNSA - pronounced "Snaz-za") is PE's signature charity event. Through a silent auction of various Christmas baskets, SNSA raises money for various charities such as the American Cancer Society, Hannah and Friends, and Building Tomorrow. SNSA typically takes place during the first week of December in the LaFortune Ballroom. We ask all of our Pyros to either donate items to be auctioned off or money to support our event. Past items have included dates with athletes, autographed soccer balls, Tiffany's gift cards, baked goods, and even laundry services.
The past five years, we have really strived to make this a memorable and successful event. Pyros, please get involved by donating an item, making a bid, or simply attending SNSA to show your support! As winter freezes the campus over, this is our chance to keep it HOT! We love this event with a burning passion - it is the perfect opportunity to give back to those in need while getting some Christmas shopping done, enjoying Christmas cookies, and even getting the chance to sit on Santa's lap!
So You Think You Can Sync?
Started in spring 2015, So You Think You Can Sync? (known as SYTYCS) is PE's newest signature event. This lip syncing competition brings together campus celebrities and students every spring to entertain and raise money for a local charity. The proceeds from the first SYTYCS went to South Bend's Center for the Homeless. Each year, Pyros have the opportunity to vote for which organization will receive the funds raised by SYTYCS. If you have ever dreamed of becoming a lip sync star, grab your hairbrush and start practicing because student auditions will be held in fall 2015!
This event which usually takes place in the beginning of the second semester, and is the perfect break from the daily grind of school and snow. This overnight trip into a no cell phone service area provides not only some good rest and relaxation, but also lots of laughs with all of the Pyros who attend. Making a big dinner, playing an obscene amount of board games, and watching chick flicks are almost always in the mix. Fire and ice combine, as the Pyros even get to go sledding, weather permitting. You don't want to miss this.
Women's Weekend/Mr. Man Weekend
This event is meant for the Pyros to invite their female/male role models on campus for a weekend of fun. Alternating every other year between women and men, we do not play favorites. Events change from year to year but are always aimed to provide a great weekend for our Pyros and the people most important to them. So men who have connections to Pasquerilla East, book your flights and get ready, because spring of 2016 is all you!
Each spring, PE burns with Pyro pride in a week-long celebration packed with fun events and bonding activities. It's so crazy, we call it Pyromania. Some of the events throughout this exciting week include volleyball games, cookouts, cookie decorating, movie watches, pool parties, free food, girls' night in, special Masses, section competitions, flash mobs in the dining hall, and much more! The week concludes with PE's spring formal dance. During Pyromania, there is always something to do, so procrastinate doing your homework a little longer and have fun with your fellow Pyros all week long!
